This is an intense documentary about inner city kids and the extraordinary people out there doing good work. Wilma Stephenson is the instructor, who wields a velvet coated iron fist. The story presents how she teaches her students to work with integrity, purpose and intention. Some of the scenes are gut-wrenching, as she brings some of these kids to the brink of tears; however, it’s never malicious. Wilma is going against the tide of stereo type, poverty, entitlement and the overall bad attitude; that so many people have in this day and age. I was inspired by her work and the kids who were making it happen.
Quote of the movie: “You gotta break the mentality of the McDonald’s palate and get something else in your brain.”
