Hooked on You

Miu is a young lady fishmonger hawking her products at Fortune Market-a classic neighborhood haunt that exist all over Asia. She is has no way out of this job because her father is a whoring, gambling ugly old man that will not give up his vices. In doing so he has racked up some large debts and, in typical Asian fashion, is up to the women to rectify. The coolest scenes in this gentle film are when Miu makes and sells fish congee with her leftovers at a late night street stall. I became quite enamored with congee during my years in Asia and these scenes brought back some fond memories.
